IT’S TIME TO WAKE THE DRAGON

DRACO WILL BRING UNIQUE PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY OF FLYING WHEREVER YOU WANT TO GO

HYPERSTOL

DRACO's genesis lies in a problem that demanded a solution: Mike's vision for a family-friendly, high-elevation backcountry aircraft led to the birth of DRACO. Inspired by his love for Wilga, Mike embarked on a journey to create the ultimate short takeoff and landing (STOL) bush plane, capable of soaring to 14,000 feet with camping gear and three passengers. The result was DRACO – a masterpiece that redefined the possibilities of flying wherever you want to go.

Aptly named "DRACO" from a Latin-derived word meaning dragon or serpent, the aircraft embodies mythical strength and power. Mike's solo reconstruction of DRACO showcased his unwavering determination and technical prowess.

DRACO's debut at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018 marked the beginning of its meteoric rise to fame. Featured on the cover of Plane&Pilot's March 2019 issue and victorious at the 2018 High Sierra STOL drag race, DRACO became a symbol of innovation and prowess in aviation.

DRACO's transformation from a PZL Wilga to an experimental exhibition category aircraft showcases Mike Patey's engineering genius. The Pratt & Whitney PT6A-28 turboprop engine, coupled with a 102-inch, four-blade MT propeller, propels DRACO to unparalleled performance. With a mere 80-foot takeoff distance, a 4,200-feet-per-minute climb, and a stall speed of around 35 mph, DRACO redefines the standards for STOL aircraft.

Beyond the accolades and competitions, DRACO symbolizes a different kind of bush plane – a turbo-prop marvel with unmatched STOL capabilities. Mike's victories in prestigious competitions, including the High Sierra Fly-In and the Valdez STOL Competition, set a standard so high that DRACO was deemed beyond further competition.

In the ever-evolving world of aviation, DRACO and Mike Patey's legacy endure as a testament to ingenuity, courage, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. DRACO isn't just an aircraft; it's a symbol of human determination to reach new heights, both in the sky and in the realm of what's possible. As the legend of DRACO continues to unfold, it cements its place in the annals of aviation history as the greatest bush plane ever built.

Now we’ll bring DRACO to you by turning it from prototype to serial production: DRACO AIRCRAFT agreed with Airbus on the unique use of the WILGA intellectual property rights and later guaranteed transfer of these IPRs to DRACO AIRCRAFT.
